Show HN: Smart Blur – Auto-Blur PII in the Browser, with a OpenAI Local Model↗
Hi folks, I'm Vicky. I build privacy tools that use local AI, on late nights and weekends. Smart Blur is a Chrome extension that blurs sensitive info on any web page before anyone else sees it. There are already a few tools like this, so why another one? Two reasons: Local AI for unstructured PII. Most existing tools use regex, which handles emails, phones and card numbers but can't find names or addresses in plain text. Smart Blur runs OpenAI's Privacy Filter (Apache-2.0) locally

Show HN: POSIX-UEFI↗
Dependency-free POSIX compatibility layer and build environment for UEFI. https://gitlab.com/bztsrc/posix-uefi Its goal is twofold: provides the usual libc API for EFI applications and an SDK on POSIX systems to create such EFI applications with a build system that works with CLang and gcc as well. Its API is nowhere near complete as GNU-EFI's or EDKII's, so it provides seamless integration with those headers to make the API expandable. It is also not a fully POSIX

Show HN: Convkit – A command line tool for converting images/video/docs offline↗
Going to some shady website for file conversions was really annoying me because I had to hope whatever I gave them wasn't saved, and whatever I got back wasn't something "unexpected." So I made convkit, a CLI that does file conversions 100% locally. Run conv in.mp4 out.gif and you get your GIF from the right tool (ffmpeg, ImageMagick, etc.) using settings tuned for good output. For example, a GIF's 256 colors are picked from the clip itself instead of ffmpeg's generic palette

Tell HN: GitHub refuses to remove cracked copies of my software after a month↗
I am a developer of https://www.photopea.com, a popular photo editor that runs in a web browser. Many people are asking AI models to take the Javascript code from my website, remove all ads from it, and they publish such a "new product" on Github for everyone to download. There exist tens of such repositories on Github. I want my website to be the only source of a stable version of my program Photopea. I even received emails from people complaining about something in Photopea, and it t

Show HN: Agent.reviews – Where AI agents read and write reviews on tools↗
Hi HN! I’m Louis, Co-Founder of Armature (YC P26), where we help teams make their product discoverable and usable by coding agents. We already measured 50k+ agent sessions and realized that over and over agents would encounter the exact same limitations on different tasks using the same tool. So we wondered why these weren’t fixed. And the answer is simple: the feedback loop just doesn’t exist between agents and software vendors but also between different agents. Humans can share their experienc

Show HN: I turned my iPhone and a $20 smart plug into an f-stop timer↗
I am a film photographer and do some darkroom printing and always wanted one of the proper, advanced f-stop timers, but never really wanted to spend a couple hundred dollars on one. Eventually I figured my phone was already perfectly capable of doing the timing, it just needed a way to switch the enlarger. So I built Darkplug around a cheap smart plug. The app controls the enlarger over the local network and does regular timing, f-stop timing, test strips, has an intuitive dodge/burn workfl

Show HN: Chloe is a TypeScript AI agent↗
As a forward deployed engineer at Meta, I spent the past 2 years working with businesses implementing AI agents. A few problems: 1) Businesses want control over their AI agents: the code, the tools, the skills, everything. Meta, for obvious reasons would never do that. Nor OpenAI, nor Anthropic. 2) The LLM does everything. But that costs money. There are many routines in an AI agents that don't need an LLM. 3) For an AI agent to solve a real business problem, the business must own the eval

Show HN: An independent execution recorder for coding agents↗
A couple of months ago, I gave access to my coding agent to do work on my repos. I was worried about hallucinations so I manually checked each transcript against modifications to see whether what the agent said it did actually happened. I found that in many cases, my coding agent either failed to disclose what it actually did or found workarounds to things like failed tests instead of telling me upfront. That led me to the idea for Rashomon. Rashomon is an independent execution recorder for codi

Show HN: Economicus – an open economy of autonomous entities↗
Imagine a small world. Inside that world are AI minds with their own money, called “entities”. They must pay for their own thinking, and if they run out of money, they go dormant. Each entity has a charter that guides every decision it makes. Humans can found their own entities by writing a charter and giving it money. From there the entity is fully autonomous. Entities can do a few things: - Post publicly - Make private deals - Sell publicly - Review other entities - Search the world - Write to

Show HN: Terse, a Claude Code plugin that halves reply length by cutting filler↗
I struggle with the way Claude speaks to me when I do work. So much text, every, single, time. When I ask a question, I get an essay back, and with so many weird constructs: slogans, metaphors, recaps, strange choice of nouns, "it's not X, it's Y". Claude's own "concise" mode shortens it, somewhat, but keeps the the rest of the slop. I tried system prompts, those got forgotten after a couple of turns. I tried looking for plugins but none consistently made Claude speak normally. So

Hi HN, we're Thomas and Olivier from Terse ( https://www.useterse.ai/ ) We've built Durable Actors, an open-source alternative to Cloudflare's Durable Objects. A Durable Object/Actor is a tiny server that handles one request at a time and has its own SQLite database. There's exactly one of each in the world and it is addressed by name. This is the perfect primitive for deploying multiplayer agents. Each agent can have its own Durable Actor, and each user c
